Inspired by…#22

I’m so happy that the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge is back; it has become one of my favorite challenges in the short time that I’ve been making cards. This week the inspiration photo is a beautiful painting of sunflowers:

I was inspired by the colors and the paint strokes. Here is my take:

Untitled

I used the By Your Side Bird die from Concord and 9th to cut out a template to transfer to watercolor paper. Then I painted the scene with goauche paints, since they go on a bit more opaquely than watercolors. I tried to mimic the brush strokes, which is tricky with goauche, it turns out! Then I stamped the Thanks sentiment from Give Thanks set, also from C9.

Then, as I was trying to take photos, Miss Monkey decided to photobomb the set. She does love birdies.

Thanks for stopping by!

Grateful

I really enjoy making thank you cards. It’s probably my favorite kind of card to make. And since I just celebrated a birthday last month, I had many opportunities to say thank you to my dear friends and family who celebrated with me.

I made this card to say thank you to my CFF’s (Craft Friend Forever) mom, who made me the most wonderful birthday cake. Once again, I used the Grateful die (and stamp)Β from My Favorite Things, along with the Sketched Blooms set.

For this one-layer card, I first die cut the grateful and then stamped the flowers around it. Then I traced the grateful in pencil through the die cut, like a stencil, to guide my stamp placement on the inside of the card.

It was a bit tricky, and it’s not quite perfect, but probably as close as I’ll ever get! Then, also on the inside, I stamped the rest of the sentiment.

I really liked how it turned out! And if it gets me more cake, I’ll gladly make many, many more of these!
