Inspired by…#29 and Little Tangles #73

Hi crafty friends, long time no see! I took a break to go up to Ontario for a long weekend at the end of September and then just sort of fell into a blogging funk. I have made a few cards while I was “away” and I hope to share them soon. But up first, here is a card for the latest Little Tangles and Inspired by all the Little Things challenges.

This card is my ode to Fall. Fall is my most favorite season. It seems to be off to a late start in my neighborhood, but temps are finally cooling off. We’re not getting a great color change, so I’ll just have to make my own!

I started off by stamping Neat & Tangled’s  My Favorite sentiment with VersaFine and embossing it with clear powder. Then I stamped the various leaf veins from the Scandinavian Prints set.

Then I used various dye inks to “color” the leaves (from Hero Arts: Pale Tomato, Fresh Peach, and Butter Bar; from Papertrey Ink: Americana; from My Favorite Things: Gumpdrop). To do this, I smooshed the ink pads onto my craft mat surface and loosened them by spritzing a little water. Then I took a wet paintbrush and painted the leaves and around the sentiment. I finished off the card with a few Nuvo glitter drops in Golden Sunset.

And before I go, here’s a shot from my long weekend. We took a ride on the Hornblower (the Canadian version of the Maid of the Mist) at Niagara Falls. Always a fun time and a great way to see and feel the power of the Falls.

Thanks for stopping by!

Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit: Handmade with Love

If you follow my Instagram, you may have seen that my stack of cards to blog just keeps getting bigger. I’m obsessed with making Christmas cards right now (and who knows, maybe I’ll even send them out), but during the Weekend of Hugging Sheep, I took a break to work on some fall cards using the November card kit Handmade with Love from Simon Says Stamp.

This was a super easy and fun card to put together thanks to the fall leaves stamps and the large sentiment. I stamped a background of the leaves with VersaMark and embossed them with clear powder. Then I stamped the sentiment onto some white card stock and foam mounted it to the orange card stock. Then I adhered that to the brown background and onto the card base. Easy peasy. I wish they all turned out the way I wanted them to on the first try.

The second card I made with the kit uses the Chips embellishments. There are a lot of cute embellishments in that pack, but I picked out the fruit for this card.

Another super easy card to assemble. The green card stock came with the kit and the arrow pattern paper is from the Echo Park Story of Fall collection.

Fall is my favorite season, and yet I haven’t really thought to make fall themed cards. But I love all the papers in this kit and those Chip embellishments are adorable (there’s a chicken!), so I guess I should challenge myself with more fall cards before the Christmas cards completely take over!
